According to UK Government Statistics the most common causes of fires in the workplace are defective electrics, such as loose wires, or faulty equipment that can overheat and cause sparks. It is therefore essential that workplace equipment is regularly inspected and replaced upon any signs of electrical damage.

In their published statistics the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) reported that there were 38,483 fires resulting in 1,597 casualties and 29 fatalities in non-domestic buildings across the UK in the 10-year period.
